Manusia Perempuan Terpendek di Dunia

Manusia Perempuan Terpendek Di Dunia - Seorang siswi di India baru saja mendapat gelar wanita terpendek di dunia dari Guinness World Records. Siswi tersebut memiliki tinggi badan 62,7 cm.

Jyoti Amge itulah nama wanita terpendek di dunia. Seperti dikutip People, Amge yang baru saja berulang tahun ke-18 tingginya hanya 24,7 inchi atau 62,7 cm.

"Menyenangkan sekali merayakan ulang tahunku yang ke-18 dengan rekor dunia baru. Ini seperti hadiah ulang tahun," kata Amge saat menerima sertifikat dari Guiness World Records.

Meskipun jadi wanita terpendek di dunia, Amge tidak berkecil hati. Ia justru bersyukur dengan tinggi badannya tersebut.

"Kalau aku tidak kecil dan tak mendapatkan rekor dunia ini, aku tidak akan pernah bisa mengunjungi Jepang dan Eropa serta negara menarik lainnya," ucapnya senang.

Kepada BBC, Amge mengisahkan dia ingin menjadi aktris Bollywood. Wanita berambut panjang ini pun berencana melanjutkan sekolahnya hingga bangku kuliah. Ia saat ini baru saja lulus dari sekolah menengah atas.

RekorManusia Perempuan Terpendek Di Dunia adalah seorang wanita Amerika bernama Bridgette Jordan. Tinggi Amge lebih pendek sekitar 7,6 cm dari Jordan. Ia mengalami achondroplasiaatau kekerdilan dan diperkirakan tidak akan tumbuh tinggi lagi.

Kompleks Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya.

Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya (juga disebut Stadion Jakabaring) adalah stadion multifungsi terbesar ketiga di Indonesia setelah Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno dan Stadion Utama Palaran. Berlokasi di Palembang, Indonesia, stadion ini juga diakui sebagai salah satu stadion terbaik yang bertaraf internasional.^[rujukan?] Kebanyakan, stadion ini difungsikan untuk tempat penyelenggaraan pertandingan-pertandingan sepak bola. Stadion dengan luas lahan sekitar 40 hektar ini dapat memuat hingga 36.000 - 40.000 orang dengan 4 tribun (A, B, C dan D) bertingkat mengelilingi lapangan. Tribun utama di sisi barat dan timur (A dan B) dilindungi atap yang ditopang 2 pelengkung (arch) baja berukuran raksasa. Bentuk atap stadion merupakan simbol kejayaan kemaharajaan Sriwijaya di bidang maritim yang dilambangkan oleh bentuk perahu dengan layar terkembang. Stadion ini beralamat di Jalan Gubernur H. A. Bastari, Jakabaring, Palembang.

Sejarah

Pertunjukan kembang api setelah penyulutan obor menandai dimulainya SEA Games XXVI di Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya, Palembang, Sumatera Selatan, Indonesia pada tanggal yang istimewa, Jumat, 11-11-2011.

Stadion yang mulai bangun pada tanggal 1 Januari 2001 ini ditujukan untuk menyelenggarakan PON XVI ketika Kota Palembang ditunjuk sebagai penyelenggara pada tanggal 2 September 2004. Stadion ini diberi nama berdasarkan kemaharajaan maritim Sriwijaya yang berpusat di Palembang dan berhasil mempersatukan wilayah barat Nusantara pada abad 7 sampai dengan abad 12. Selain itu stadion ini juga merupakan markas dari klub sepak bola Indonesia, Sriwijaya FC. Stadion ini dipakai sebagai salah satu stadion yang menyelenggarakan pertandingan dalam Piala Asia 2007 sebagai pendamping Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno pada hari pertandingan ketiga dan juga perebutan tempat ketiga.Hasil verifikasi AFC menjadikan Stadion ini satu dari 3 stadion standar A AFC di Indonesia.^[1] Stadion ini menjadi stadion utama pada upacara pembukaan dan penutupan SEA Games 2011 di Palembang.

Legenda Asal Mula Nama Sungai Musi

Sungai Musi adalah sebuah sungai yang terletak di provinsi Sumatra Selatan, Indonesia. Dengan panjang 750 km, sungai ini merupakan yang terpanjang di pulau Sumatera dan membelah Kota Palembang menjadi dua bagian. Jembatan Ampera yang menjadi ikon Kota Palembang pun melintas di atas sungai ini. Sejak zaman Kerajaan Sriwijaya hingga sekarang, sungai ini terkenal sebagai sarana transportasi utama bagi masyarakat.
Di tepi Sungai Musi terdapat Pelabuhan Boom Baru dan Museum Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II.

Geografi
Sungai Musi membelah Kota Palembang menjadi dua bagian kawasan: Seberang Ilir di bagian utara dan Seberang Ulu di bagian selatan. Sungai Musi, bersama dengan sungai lainnya, membentuk sebuah delta di dekat Kota Sungsang.

Mata airnya bersumber di daerah Kepahiang, Bengkulu. Sungai Musi disebut juga Batanghari Sembilan yang berarti sembilan sungai besar, pengertian sembilan sungai besar adalah Sungai Musi beserta delapan sungai besar yang bermuara di sungai Musi. Adapun delapan sungai tersebut adalah :

Legenda:
Zaman dahulu kala, hubungan lalu lintaslaut di seluruh dunia di lakukan dgn perahu layar. Pada jaman itu, banyak pula lanun atau bajak laut. Ketika itu perdagangan tidak memakai sistem jual beli tetapi dengan sistem barter.

Menurut cerita, ada kelompok bajak laut asal negeri Cina yang terdiri dari tiga perahu layar, berlayar ke Selat Bangka.
Perompak itu di pimpin oleh seorang yang bergelar Kapitan. Mereka tertarik ketika melalui muara Sungai Musi, terutama karena lebarnya. Kapitan mencari dalam peta, ternyata sungai itu belum ada namanya di peta.

Para perompak itu melihat banyak perahu besar dan tongkang datang dari hulu sarat dengan muatan hasil bumi, mereka yakin di wilayah hulu sungai pastilah daerah yang subur. Mereka pun mulai membentuk kelompok2 untuk menjelajah daerah2 hulu.

Ada kelompok mereka yang sampai di daerah dataran rendah Gunung Dempo (daerah Lahat sekarang), mereka kagum melihat betapa suburnya tanah. Hasil sayur mayur tidak terpanen. Tanaman kopi bagaikan hutan dgn buahnya yang besar2. Begitu juga cengkih, kayu manis dan berbagai tanaman lainnya.

Kelompok yang menjelajah Muara Enim skrg, juga kagum dgn melihat tanaman rempah2 dan batubara yang muncul di permukaan tanah. Sementara itu yang sampai di wilayah Ranau, begitu takjub ketika melihat tembakau pun tumbuh disana.

Kapitan pun begitu tertarik dengan Wilayah Sumatera Selatan yang berpusat di Sungai Musi, dia pun memutuskan untuk tinggal lama di Palembang. Dia memberi tanda melingkari daerah Sumatera Selatan dalam peta seraya berkata :

"Kita skrg berada di daerah ini. Ternyata daerah dan sungai ini belum ada namanya di peta. Sudah ku pikir2, kita menamakan daerah ini Mu Ci (dalam bahasa tua Cina Han, Mu Ci berarti Ayam Betina, dan Mu Ci adalah nama bagi Dewi Ayam Betina yang memberikan keberuntungan pada manusia)

Seorang perompak bertanya : "Mengapa Tuan menamakan daerah ini Mu Ci?"

"Bukankah Mu Ci (Ayam Betina) adalah makhluk yg memberikan keuntungan buat manusia? Sekali bertelur belasan butir. telur adalah sumber makanan dan rezeki. Daerah ini pun sangat subur. Luar biasa suburnya. hasil rempah2nya bermutu tinggi. Ada Tambang batubara, emas dll. Maka daerah ini layak di sebut Mu Ci, karena tanahnya demikian kaya raya memberi keberuntungan bagi manusia".

"Kalian ingat, penduduk di daerah ini juga memiliki sifat yang baik yang dimiliki ayam.
Kaum pria daerah ini ramah, mudah menerima orang asing, dapat bergaul dengan baik dan suka menolong. Akan tetapi jangan berbuat curang atau menipu mereka. Bukankah ada empat orang teman kita yang mati karena di tusuk penduduk dgn pisau?"

Pemimpin Perompak melanjutkan pembicaraannya...
"Itu salah teman kita sendiri, sudah saya perintahkan untuk berperangai baik. daerah ini dan seluruh penduduknya akan jadi mitra dagang kita dalam jangka panjang. Selain itu, wanita di daerah Mu Ci ini juga sangat baik, kulit mereka kuning seperti kita. Tapi wajahnya tidak seperti wajah orang Eropa dan tidak mirip kita. Kaum wanita daerah ini hebat dan mengagumkan. Mereka bekerja keras membantu suami.

Tak ubahnya seperti induk ayam betina. Bekerja keras mencari makanan untuk anak2nya. Hormat dan baik pada sesamanya. Akan tetapi jangan coba2 mengganggu mereka dan anak2nya. Mereka bisa lebih ganas dari elang sekalipun.

Beratus tahun kemudian kata Mu Ci berubah menjadi Musi....

Kesimpulan :
Cerita ini adalah Legenda, orang tak percaya pernah terjadi. Namun kita melihat ada Sungai Musi dengan daerah Sumatera Selatan yang subur.
Hikmah dari legenda ini adalah, masyarakat Sumsel ramah tamah, tetapi berani berindak tegas bila harga dirinya di usik adalah sikap yang di sergani. Walaupun Bajak Laut jahat dan Kejam dalam berdagang mereka tetap ramah dan rendah hati.

Cinderella and the fairy godmother

ONCE there was a gentleman who married, for his second wife, the proudest and most haughty woman that was ever seen. She had been married before, and already had two daughters who were exactly like her in all things. He had likewise, by his first wife, a young daughter, but of unequalled goodness and sweetness of temper, which she took from her mother, who was the best creature in the world. This sweet little girl missed her mother, who had died, terribly much.

No sooner was the wedding ceremony over, than the new wife began to show herself in her true colours. She could not bear the goodness of the gentleman’s pretty girl, and especially as she made her own daughters appear the more horrid. She made her do the meanest jobs in the house: the girl scoured the dishes and tables, and scrubbed the step-mother’s bathroom, and those of her daughters; she slept in a little attic, upon a wretched straw bed, while her sisters lay upon beds with the softest pillows, in fine rooms, with floors covered with beautiful carpets, and walls on which hung looking-glasses so large that they might see themselves at their full length from head to foot.
The poor girl bore all patiently, and dared not tell her father, who would have been angry with her; for his new wife ruled him entirely. When the little girl had done her work, she used to go into the chimney corner, and sit down among cinders and ashes, which led her to be called Cinderwench; but the youngest step-daughter, who was not quite so rude and unkind as the eldest, called her Cinderella. However, Cinderella, even though she was dressed in rags, was a hundred times prettier than her sisters, though they were always dressed very richly.
It happened that the King’s son gave a ball, and invited all finest gentlemen and ladies of the city. Our young misses were also invited, for they were always to be seen at fashionable parties. They were truly delighted at this invitation, and wonderfully busy in choosing such gowns, petticoats, and head-dresses as might suit them. This was a new trouble to Cinderella; for it was she who washed and ironed her sisters’ clothes and got all their things ready. Meanwhile, the sisters talked all day long of nothing but what they should wear to the ball.
“For my part,” said the eldest, “I will wear my red velvet suit with French trimming.”
“And I,” said the youngest, “shall have my usual petticoat; but then, to make amends for that, I will put on my gold-flowered gown, and my diamond belt, which is far from being the most ordinary one in the world.”
But in truth, they were still not absolutely sure what would be best to wear to the ball, so they sent for the best fashion designer they could find to advise on their evening dresses, and they had their nails manicured at Mademoiselle de la Poche.
Cinderella was likewise called up to them for advice, for she had excellent judgement, and advised them always for the best, indeed, and offered her services to make up their hair, which they were very willing she should do. As she was doing this, they said to her:
“Cinderella, would you not be glad to go to the ball?”
“Alas!” said she, “you only jeer me; it is not for a poor girl like me to go there.”
“You’re quite right,” replied they; “it would make the people laugh to see a Cinderwench at a ball.”
Anyone but Cinderella would have dressed their heads all wrong, but she was very good, and dressed them perfectly well.
The step-sisters were almost two days without eating, so much were they thrilled and excited. They broke above a dozen corsets in trying to be laced up tightly, so that they might have a fine slender shape, and they were continually at their looking-glass. At last the happy day came; they went to Court, and Cinderella followed them with her eyes as long as she could, and when she had lost sight of them, she fell a-crying.
Just then, her fairy godmother, who used to watch over her secretly, saw her all in tears, and appeared at her side and asked her what was the matter.
“I wish I could–I wish I could–”; she was not able to speak the rest, being interrupted by her tears and sobbing.
This fairy godmother of hers said to her, “You wish you could go to the ball; is it not so?”
“Y–es,” cried Cinderella, with a great sigh.
“Well,” said her godmother, “be but a good girl, and I will see that you shall go to the ball.” Then she took her into her secret room, and said to her, “Run into the garden, and bring me a pumpkin.”
Cinderella went immediately to gather the finest she could get, and brought it to her godmother, not being able to imagine how this pumpkin could make her go to the ball. Her godmother scooped out all the inside of the big vegetable, leaving nothing but the rind; which done, she struck it with her wand, and the pumpkin was instantly turned into a fine coach, gilded all over with gold.
She then went to look into her mouse-trap, where she found six mice, all alive, and ordered Cinderella to lift up a little the trapdoor. As each mouse went out, she gave it a little tap with her wand, and the mouse was that moment turned into a fine horse, which altogether made a very fine set of six horses of a beautiful mouse-colored dapple-grey. But they still needed a coachman,
“I will go and see,” says Cinderella, “if there is a rat in the rat-trap–we may make a coachman of him.”
“You’re a smart one,” replied her godmother; “go and look.”
Cinderella brought the trap to her, and in it there were three huge rats. The fairy made choice of one of the three which had the largest beard, and, having touched him with her wand, he was turned into a fat, jolly coachman, who had the smartest whiskers eyes ever beheld. After that, she said to her:
“Go again into the garden, and you will find six lizards behind the watering can, bring them to me.”
She had no sooner done so but her godmother turned them into six footmen, who skipped up immediately behind the coach, with their uniforms all bedaubed with gold and silver, and clung as close behind each other as if they had done nothing else their whole lives. The Fairy then said to Cinderella:
“Well, you have here transport fit to take you to the ball; are you not pleased with it?”
“Oh! yes,” cried she; “but must I go there as I am, in these nasty rags?”
Her godmother only just touched her with her wand, and, at the same instant, her clothes were turned into cloth of gold and silver, all beset with jewels. This done, she gave her a pair of glass slippers, the prettiest in the whole world. Being thus decked out, she got up into her coach; but her godmother, above all things, commanded her not to stay till after midnight, telling her, at the same time, that if she stayed one moment longer, the coach would be a pumpkin again, her horses mice, her coachman a rat, her footmen lizards, and her clothes become just as they were before.
She promised her godmother she would not fail to leave the ball before midnight; and then away she drives, scarce able to contain herself for joy. The King’s son who was told that a great princess, whom nobody knew, was come, ran out to receive her; he gave her his hand as she alighted out of the coach, and led her into the ball, among all the company. There was immediately a profound silence, they left off dancing, and the violins ceased to play, so attentive was everyone to contemplate the singular beauties of the unknown newcomer. Nothing was then heard but a confused noise of:
“Ha! how lovely she is! Ha! how lovely she is!”
The King himself, old as he was, could not help watching her, and telling the Queen softly that it was a long time since he had seen so beautiful and lovely a creature.
All the ladies were busied in considering her clothes and headdress, that they might have some made next day after the same pattern, provided they could meet with such fine material and as able hands to make them.
The King’s son led her to the most honorable seat, and afterward took her out to dance with him; she danced so very gracefully that they all more and more admired her. A fine banquet was served up, of which the young Prince ate not a morsel, so intently was he busied in gazing on her.
She went and sat down by her sisters, showing them a thousand polite gestures, giving them part of the oranges and lemon blossoms which the Prince had presented her with, which very much surprised them, for they did not recognise her. While Cinderella was thus amusing her sisters, she heard the clock strike eleven and three-quarters, whereupon she immediately made a curtsy to the company and hasted away as fast as she could.
When she got home she ran to seek out her godmother, and, after having thanked her, she said she could not but heartily wish she might go next day to the ball, because the King’s son had desired her.
As she was eagerly telling her godmother whatever had passed at the ball, her two sisters knocked at the door, which Cinderella ran and opened.
“How long you have stayed!” cried she, gaping, rubbing her eyes and stretching herself as if she had been just waked out of her sleep; she had not, however, any manner of inclination to sleep since they went from home.
“If you had been at the ball,” said one of her sisters, “you would not have been tired . There came there the finest Princess, the most beautiful ever was seen with mortal eyes; she was a thousand times nice to us, and gave us orange and lemon blossoms.”
Cinderella seemed very indifferent in the matter; indeed, she asked them the name of that Princess; but they told her they did not know it, and that the King’s son was very uneasy on her account and would give all the world to know who she was. At this Cinderella, smiling, replied:
“She must, then, be very beautiful indeed; how happy you have been! Could not I see her? Ah! dear Miss Charlotte, do lend me your yellow suit of clothes which you wear every day.”
“Ay, to be sure!” cried Miss Charlotte; “lend my clothes to such a dirty Cinderwench as you! I should be a fool.”
Cinderella, indeed, expected well such answer, and was very glad of the refusal; for she would have been sadly put to it if her sister had lent her what she asked for jokingly.
The next day the two sisters were at the ball, and so was Cinderella, but dressed more magnificently than before. The King’s son was always by her, and never ceased his compliments and kind speeches to her; to whom all this was so far from being tiresome that she quite forgot what her godmother had recommended to her; so that she, at last, counted the clock striking twelve when she took it to be no more than eleven; she then rose up and fled, as nimble as a deer. The Prince followed, but could not overtake her. She left behind one of her glass slippers, which the Prince took up most carefully. She got home but quite out of breath, and in her nasty old clothes, having nothing left her of all her finery but one of the little slippers, fellow to that she dropped. The guards at the palace gate were asked: If they had not seen a Princess go out. They replied that had seen nobody go out but a young girl, very meanly dressed, and who had more the air of a poor country wench than a gentlewoman.
When the two sisters returned from the ball Cinderella asked them: If they had been well diverted, and if the fine lady had been there.
They told her: Yes, but that she hurried away immediately when it struck twelve, and with so much haste that she dropped one of her little glass slippers, the prettiest in the world, which the King’s son had taken up; that he had done nothing but look at her all the time at the ball, and that most certainly he was very much in love with the beautiful person who owned the glass slipper.
What they said was very true; for a few days after the King’s son commanded it to be proclaimed, by sound of trumpet, that he would marry the young woman whose foot would perfectly fit the slipper. He sent out his most trusted advsiers from the palace, who began to try it upon the Princesses, then the duchesses and all the Court, but in vain; it was brought to the two sisters, who each did all that she possibly could to thrust her foot into the slipper, but neither sister could manage to do so. Cinderella, who saw all this, and knew her slipper, said to them, laughing:
“Let me see if it will not fit me.”
Her sisters burst out a-laughing, and began to tease her. The gentleman who was sent to try the slipper looked earnestly at Cinderella, and, finding her very handsome, said: it was only right that that she should try, and that he had orders to let every girl try.
He asked Cinderella to sit down, and, putting the slipper to her foot, he found it went on very easily, and fitted her as if it had been made of wax. The astonishment her two sisters were in was excessively great, but still abundantly greater when Cinderella pulled out of her pocket the other slipper, and put it on her foot. Thereupon, in came her godmother, who, having touched with her wand Cinderella’s clothes, made them richer and more magnificent than any of those she had before.
And now her two sisters found her to be that fine, beautiful lady whom they had seen at the ball. They threw themselves at her feet to beg pardon for all the ill treatment they had dished out to her. Cinderella took them up, and, as she embraced them, cried that she forgave them with all her heart, and desired them always to love her.
She was brought by carriage to the young Prince, dressed as she was; he thought her more charming than ever, and, a few days after, married her. Cinderella, who was no less good than beautiful, gave her two sisters rooms in the palace, and that very same day matched them with two great lords of the Court.

Once upon a time, long, long ago a king and queen ruled over a distant land. The queen was kind and lovely and all the people of the realm adored her. The only sadness in the queen's life was that she wished for a child but did not have one.
One winter day, the queen was doing needle work while gazing out her ebony window at the new fallen snow. A bird flew by the window startling the queen and she pricked her finger. A single drop of blood fell on the snow outside her window. As she looked at the blood on the snow she said to herself, "Oh, how I wish that I had a daughter that had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony."
Soon after that, the kind queen got her wish when she gave birth to a baby girl who had skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony. They named the baby princess Snow White, but sadly, the queen died after giving birth to Snow White.

Soon after, the king married a new woman who was beautiful, but as well proud and cruel. She had studied dark magic and owned a magic mirror, of which she would daily ask,

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?.

Each time this question was asked, the mirror would give the same answer, "Thou, O Queen, art the fairest of all." This pleased the queen greatly as she knew that her magical mirror could speak nothing but the truth.
One morning when the queen asked, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" she was shocked when it answered:

You, my queen, are fair; it is true.
But Snow White is even fairer than you.

The Queen flew into a jealous rage and ordered her huntsman to take Snow White into the woods to be killed. She demanded that the huntsman return with Snow White's heart as proof.
The poor huntsman took Snow White into the forest, but found himself unable to kill the girl. Instead, he let her go, and brought the queen the heart of a wild boar.
Snow White was now all alone in the great forest, and she did not know what to do. The trees seemed to whisper to each other, scaring Snow White who began to run. She ran over sharp stones and through thorns. She ran as far as her feet could carry her, and just as evening was about to fall she saw a little house and went inside in order to rest.
Inside the house everything was small but tidy. There was a little table with a tidy, white tablecloth and seven little plates. Against the wall there were seven little beds, all in a row and covered with quilts.
Because she was so hungry Snow White ate a few vegetables and a little bread from each little plate and from each cup she drank a bit of milk. Afterward, because she was so tired, she lay down on one of the little beds and fell fast asleep.
After dark, the owners of the house returned home. They were the seven dwarves who mined for gold in the mountains. As soon as they arrived home, they saw that someone had been there -- for not everything was in the same order as they had left it.

The first one said, "Who has been sitting in my chair?"
The second one, "Who has been eating from my plate?"
The third one, "Who has been eating my bread?"
The fourth one, "Who has been eating my vegetables?"
The fifth one, "Who has been eating with my fork?"
The sixth one, "Who has been drinking from my cup?"

But the seventh one, looking at his bed, found Snow White lying there asleep. The seven dwarves all came running up, and they cried out with amazement. They fetched their seven candles and shone the light on Snow White.
"Oh good heaven! " they cried. "This child is beautiful!"
They were so happy that they did not wake her up, but let her continue to sleep in the bed. The next morning Snow White woke up, and when she saw the seven dwarves she was frightened. But they were friendly and asked, "What is your name?"
"My name is Snow White," she answered.
"How did you find your way to our house?" the dwarves asked further.
Then she told them that her stepmother had tried to kill her, that the huntsman had spared her life, and that she had run the entire day through the forest, finally stumbling upon their house.
The dwarves spoke with each other for awhile and then said, "If you will keep house for us, and cook, make beds, wash, sew, and knit, and keep everything clean and orderly, then you can stay with us, and you shall have everything that you want."
"Yes," said Snow White, "with all my heart." For Snow White greatly enjoyed keeping a tidy home.
So Snow White lived happily with the dwarves. Every morning they went into the mountains looking for gold, and in the evening when they came back home Snow White had their meal ready and their house tidy. During the day the girl was alone, except for the small animals of the forest that she often played with.
Now the queen, believing that she had eaten Snow White's heart, could only think that she was again the first and the most beautiful woman of all. She stepped before her mirror and said:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?

It answered:

You, my queen, are fair; it is true.
But Snow White, beyond the mountains
With the seven dwarves,
Is still a thousand times fairer than you.

This startled the queen, for she knew that the mirror did not lie, and she realized that the huntsman had deceived her and that Snow White was still alive. Then she thought, and thought again, how she could rid herself of Snow White -- for as long as long as she was not the most beautiful woman in the entire land her jealousy would give her no rest.
At last she thought of something. She went into her most secret room -- no one else was allowed inside -- and she made a poisoned apple. From the outside it was beautiful, and anyone who saw it would want it. But anyone who might eat a little piece of it would died. Coloring her face, she disguised herself as an old peddler woman, so that no one would recognize her, traveled to the dwarves house and knocked on the door.
Snow White put her head out of the window, and said, "I must not let anyone in; the seven dwarves have forbidden me to do so."
"That is all right with me," answered the peddler woman. "I'll easily get rid of my apples. Here, I'll give you one of them."
"No," said Snow White, "I cannot accept anything from strangers."
"Are you afraid of poison?" asked the old woman. "Look, I'll cut the apple in two. You eat half and I shall eat half."
Now the apple had been so artfully made that only the one half was poisoned. Snow White longed for the beautiful apple, and when she saw that the peddler woman was eating part of it she could no longer resist, and she stuck her hand out and took the poisoned half. She barely had a bite in her mouth when she fell to the ground dead.
The queen looked at her with an evil stare, laughed loudly, and said, "White as snow, red as blood, black as ebony wood! The dwarves shall never awaken you."
Back at home she asked her mirror:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?

It finally answered:

You, my queen, are fairest of all.

Then her cruel and jealous heart was at rest, as well as a cruel and jealous heart can be at rest.
When the dwarves came home that evening they found Snow White lying on the ground. She was not breathing at all. She was dead. They lifted her up and looked at her longingly. They talked to her, shook her and wept over her. But nothing helped. The dear child was dead, and she remained dead. They laid her on a bed of straw, and all seven sat next to her and mourned for her and cried for three days. They were going to bury her, but she still looked as fresh as a living person, and still had her beautiful red cheeks.
They said, "We cannot bury her in the black earth," and they had a transparent glass coffin made, so she could be seen from all sides. They laid her inside, and with golden letters wrote on it her name, and that she was a princess. Then they put the coffin outside on a mountain, and one of them always stayed with it and watched over her. The animals too came and mourned for Snow White, first an owl, then a raven, and finally a dove.
Now it came to pass that a prince entered these woods and happened onto the dwarves' house, where he sought shelter for the night . He saw the coffin on the mountain with beautiful Snow White in it, and he read what was written on it with golden letters.
Then he said to the dwarves, "Let me have the coffin. I will give you anything you want for it."
But the dwarves answered, "We will not sell it for all the gold in the world."
Then he said, "Then give it to me, for I cannot live without being able to see Snow White. I will honor her and respect her as my most cherished one."
As he thus spoke, the good dwarves felt pity for him and gave him the coffin. The prince had his servants carry it away on their shoulders. But then it happened that one of them stumbled on some brush, and this dislodged from Snow White's throat the piece of poisoned apple that she had bitten off. Not long afterward she opened her eyes, lifted the lid from her coffin, sat up, and was alive again.
"Good heavens, where am I?" she cried out.
The prince said joyfully, "You are with me." He told her what had happened, and then said, "I love you more than anything else in the world. Come with me to my father's castle. You shall become my wife." Snow White loved him, and she went with him. Their wedding was planned with great splendor and majesty.
Snow White's wicked step-mother was invited to the feast, and when she had arrayed herself in her most beautiful garments, she stood before her mirror, and said:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?

The mirror answered:

You, my queen, are fair; it is true.
But the young queen is a thousand times fairer than you.

Not knowing that this new queen was indeed her stepdaughter, she arrived at the wedding, and her heart filled with the deepest of dread when she realized the truth - the evil queen was banished from the land forever and the prince and Snow White lived happily ever after.

Walaupun banyak yang harus diperbaiki tapi rumah ini bagaikan rumah impian buat Will Attenton (Daniel Craig). Sayangnya, rumah ini menyimpan satu misteri, misteri yang sampai saat ini belum terungkap. Pelan namun pasti Will terseret menyelidiki misteri yang meliputi rumah barunya ini.
Will memutuskan meninggalkan Manhattan dan pindah ke kota kecil di New England untuk mengawali hidup baru. Bersama Libby (Rachel Weisz), istrinya, Will membawa Dee Dee (Claire Geare) dan Trish (Taylor Geare) ke rumah yang sudah lama kosong itu. Tak berapa lama kemudian Will mulai melihat sesuatu yang tak bisa ia jelaskan.
